CHANGE MANAGEMENT

NOT INVENTED HERE SYNDROME

NIHS’ - acronym of ‘Not Invented Here Syndrome’ is killer for best practices adoption. Human beings are rebellious to changes due to fear of learning new tricks. The best response to resist change is simply say, ‘It works for them and won't work for us!.

This response is called ‘NIHS’ which is a lame excuse to accept changes. A best practice is one which has universal suitability with little modifications. Part of change management change leaders must be aware this syndrome and adopt a strategy called ‘DEMONSTRATOR’

Demonstrator is a proof of concept in our environment to prove the change works in our company. I have used this technique in many major changes and works miracle. Lean is major paradigm shift and very complex to understand by a common man. Any amount training will not be sufficient.

Human being reject any new idea without even understanding and speculate against it. For change agents learning change management is more important than technical mastery.
