 Power of Mantra

Science & spiritual masters have concurred to the fact that this ever expanding cosmos came from ‘Nothing’!

That ‘No-Thing’ is Brahman as our enlightened masters defined it. Is it an empty hypothesis? You have to figure out. Till anything is your own experience, it will be only a belief like religion or concept of God.

Sadguru says, ‘Since you and I have not created this phenomenal universe, we gave a shape to God and said He created it. Hence the God is created by humans as in animal kingdom there is no God.

The truth is ‘All that is there in names & forms are nothing but vibrations of an invisible energy. If you wish to see how water responds to various vibrations please see the YouTube video on the Jpanese research.

As spiritual aspirant, your sadhana needs to be back up with the vision of Brahman -the all pervading, formless, omnipotent, omnipresent and Omnicient never born & never die life essence whose manifested form is this whole cosmos.

The mantras like Gayatri are nothing but vibrations that resonate the causeless cause - Brahman. RECITE THEM.

Mind the Mind! Essence of Spirituality

We learned physics, chemistry etc without asking who is the prophet or author of these sciences. We accepted them as gospel as it was taught before our intellect challenged them.

Science is nothing but a discovery of nature’s truth found by many scientists.

In the same way ‘Spirituality’ is a science of inner being, discovered by our fore fathers who are called ‘Sages’ or ‘Seekers’. Only difference is the material sciences like physics or chemistry is discovery of external truths where as ‘Spirituality’ is discovery of inner truth.

We value material sciences as it gives material wealth and a false sense of happiness. We don’t value spiritual science as its outcome is intangible.

In the material realm, a beggar wants to become a millionaire as he feels he will be happy then. A millionaire is unhappy because he wants to become a billionaire. This way material pursuits provides an illusionary sense of happiness in the future which never arrives. We die one day without heading any where.

‘Mind’ is the trouble maker in this game of ‘Samsara’ which is the cycle of birth & death chasing a unfulfilled desires. We are not aware of it because ‘We don’t know we have a mind!’. ‘Minding the mind’ is what meditation is all about’.

When you transcend the mind , it become our slave; till then ‘Mind is your master’ and we are it’s servant. In this state ‘Misery is the only experience of life’. Buddha called it as ‘Dhukka’.

Challenges! The manure of Life

Courtesy:
Shivanand shared a post which says ‘Challenges makes you responsible’. Few thoughts on this:

The various researches show, the kids grown by affluent parents who provide everything they wants, never become responsible in life and they become astray. Why?

The kids who did not have 3 meal a day are very successful like Sri. Abdul Kalam!  Why?

Nature provided challenges to shape up our ambition and goals of life.

Buddha said:
“When you break the egg from outside, the life ends; if it breaks from inside, life begins”.

When the cacoon is broken by us from outside to release the lava the butterfly lives a shorter life. But when the lava struggles to come out the butterfly is health and live long life.

Hence don’t deny any challenges in life because it helps you to grow.  Sri Sri once said:

“Struggle in life is like a manure; it stinks but grows the plant”.

Thank you Shiva

Life's Lesson - Disappointments

One of the biggest life’s lesson I learnt is ‘How to negotiate disappointments?’

Anecdote:

When I was in school, I was fascinated to become a graduate in mechanical engineering. All went well till my school final, but the karma struck then and I ended up in 52% marks which was not sufficient to get into engineering education. As an angry young man I refused to get into polytechnic which was the only alternative. In the process, I stayed astray for a year, venting my frustration in smoking! A year later I reconciled to the fact that “If you don’t get what you love; then love what you have got!”. I took up my Diploma education and moved on.

Among many disappointments this was the biggest one I could barely accommodate. This early scar in my bosom created an animosity over the society which became my target. I alienated from groups and remained aloof till I reached 28! But the belly fire in me remained glowing for higher education although I was well placed in a reputed company, married with two lovely kids.

It suddenly dawned on me that life does not come to end based on one disappointment. With a positive bent of mind I went back to academia and won my engineering degree with a Gold medal and did my Masters in research in IIT Chennai. What’s the lesson from this story?

What is ‘disappointment’?
The very word dis-appointment’ has two connotations in it; ‘dis’ and ‘appointment’! In English language ‘dis’ stands for ‘negative’ state. ‘Appointment’ stands for meeting ones expectations.

Life is a series of disappointments only because the need of people is many and availability is limited. This means we will only face disappointments one after another. But remember:
- Disappointment wakes you up and makes you alert.
- Disappointment is a ‘comma’ and not a ‘full stop’.
- If one door closes, many other doors opens up. In fact better ones.
- The art of life is ‘How to convert ‘stumbling blocks’ to ‘stepping stones’.
-  your job is ‘never give up’. Keep knocking the door and one day it will open.
- Finally remember one great quote:
“Every problem is a seed of equivalent benefit”
This means nature sends you a problem as a seed. Don’t throw it away. Put it in the ground and pour water as it later grow and near sweet fruits. Another words ‘Every problem is an opportunity in disguise.

Teachings of Lord Buddha - Venerable Truth-1

Lord Buddha's teachings are the simplest to learn and apply as Buddhism is not a belief like other religions but founded on the enlightened experience of Gautama. Siddhrtha's enquiry started when he found the misery of life at the age of 29.
Here is the logical conclusion of Buddha expressed as 4 Venerable truths:
Truth - 1: Recognise that Life is a  Misery
Sounds very pessimistic to a common man as he finds many pleasures of life. It is very difficult to recognise this truth for those who are submerged in carnal pleasures. Think deeply for a moment about the greed, anxiety, fear, insecurity, hatred,  lust and dislike of all the people's behaviour we go through in daily life.
If you try hard you will recognise life is by default a misery with occasional sweet spots. Knowing old age, disease & death is inevitable is a good enough reason for misery. Please don't pretend that you will never die as we have all born with the death warrant on hand without date written on it.
Other Venerable truth to follow. Please digest this one before I can serve the next one.
