What is our Psychological Anatomy?
The building block of personality development is to understand the Anatomy of our human psychological system which comprises of several instruments. This is akin to the Medical student who is taught about the structure and function of the human body before learning other details. Only difference in PD is, we will learn what we are made up of emotionally and intellectually, which is very vital for the future lessons. This is similar to car driving class we are taught what is accelerator, steering and brake!
The Body is similar to the hardware of a
computer which has 'Input' & 'Output' devices. There are 5 input and 5
output devices nature provided to this super computer called Human. The input
devices are eye, ear, nose, tongue & skin. These input devices pick up
external stimuli such as sound, smell, taste, vision & touch each one is
unique and not interchangeable - eye cannot smell and vice versa. They help us
to perceive the phenomenal world. In Veda the Body is called a 'Perceiver' which terms means that it can only receive and transmit data but cannot interpret on its own. This is like a keyboard in a computer which on its own cannot analyze the inputs.
The
5 output devices are Hands, Legs, Vocal chords, excretion and
reproducing organs. They are like
monitor, printer etc. which transmits the processed information into specific actions. You will appreciate why when a young boy is frightened he passes urine or why we run away when we come know there is a snake. In the next lesson we will learn what is Mind?
Enough for the day. Jai Gurudev.
