Mind the Mind! Essence of Spirituality

We learned physics, chemistry etc without asking who is the prophet or author of these sciences. We accepted them as gospel as it was taught before our intellect challenged them.

Science is nothing but a discovery of nature’s truth found by many scientists.

In the same way ‘Spirituality’ is a science of inner being, discovered by our fore fathers who are called ‘Sages’ or ‘Seekers’. Only difference is the material sciences like physics or chemistry is discovery of external truths where as ‘Spirituality’ is discovery of inner truth.

We value material sciences as it gives material wealth and a false sense of happiness. We don’t value spiritual science as its outcome is intangible.

In the material realm, a beggar wants to become a millionaire as he feels he will be happy then. A millionaire is unhappy because he wants to become a billionaire. This way material pursuits provides an illusionary sense of happiness in the future which never arrives. We die one day without heading any where.

‘Mind’ is the trouble maker in this game of ‘Samsara’ which is the cycle of birth & death chasing a unfulfilled desires. We are not aware of it because ‘We don’t know we have a mind!’. ‘Minding the mind’ is what meditation is all about’.

When you transcend the mind , it become our slave; till then ‘Mind is your master’ and we are it’s servant. In this state ‘Misery is the only experience of life’. Buddha called it as ‘Dhukka’.

Challenges! The manure of Life

Courtesy:
Shivanand shared a post which says ‘Challenges makes you responsible’. Few thoughts on this:

The various researches show, the kids grown by affluent parents who provide everything they wants, never become responsible in life and they become astray. Why?

The kids who did not have 3 meal a day are very successful like Sri. Abdul Kalam!  Why?

Nature provided challenges to shape up our ambition and goals of life.

Buddha said:
“When you break the egg from outside, the life ends; if it breaks from inside, life begins”.

When the cacoon is broken by us from outside to release the lava the butterfly lives a shorter life. But when the lava struggles to come out the butterfly is health and live long life.

Hence don’t deny any challenges in life because it helps you to grow.  Sri Sri once said:

“Struggle in life is like a manure; it stinks but grows the plant”.

Thank you Shiva
