What matters in Life? - Physical & Non-physical?

The greatest physicist & philosopher of this century Albert Einstein once said "All that can be counted does not count; but all that cannot be counted counts".

You may have to read this many times to understand the import of what he means. Greatest wisdom are in couplets like Bhagawad Gita which is not so obvious to comprehend. It needs a commentary. Let me try to write a commentary on this profound statement of a Gyani.

All that we cognise in this universe can be classified into two major categories namely "Physical" & "Non-physical". All that we we can recognise with our 5 senses like the table, chair, Apple or the mountain is 'Physical'. All that we cannot comprehend with 5 senses but cannot deny its presence like gravity, electricity, magnetism etc are 'Non-physical'.

The physical has a boundary like our body, but our mind is non-physical. The physical will perish but the non-physical will never perish as the laws of conservation of energy says 'Energy can neither be created nor destroyed'.

What Einstein says is 'all physical can be counted like number of mangoes or people but non-physical like magnetism cannot be counted as how much magnetism is there in this universe. This is the superficial meaning of what Einstein says but there is a deep sense of wisdom in his statement. What's that? Here is an explanation.

The 'physical' have a material value like our car or properties but non-physical like 'Love, Integrity, patience, compassion etc cannot be counted but it counts. The word count has a dual meaning depending on how it is used in a sentence.

What Einstein says is 'Material objects although can be counted like the number of cars one possess, it does not count (matter). On the other hand how much love and good will one earned cannot be counted but it really counts (matters).

Please remember all powerful forces are invisible like heat, Gravity, magnetism, atomic energy etc. Similarly, all invisible forces like Love, gratitude, compassion etc cannot be counted but are the most powerful forces what 'COUNTS' (Matter).

Above all the Divine is the most invisible force that can never be comprehended with our limited sense but attaining that is what really 'COUNTS' and purpose of life. If you are still counting your physical possessions even now, the non-physical will never be in your vicinity and suffering is imminent.
